"Do I have to be in great shape to get started?"
Absolutely not! Come in whatever shape you're in. If you're not in great shape - our classes will greatly improve your physical condition. If you are, then we'll help you stay in shape, and probably get in even better shape, too.
"I have an injury or medical condition. Can I still take Krav Maga?"
Most likely, the answer is yes. Speak to your doctor, and let us know what he / she says. We'll gladly work with what your doctor has to say to provide you with a safe, fun experience.
"Are the classes violent? Will I get hurt?"
People often associate martial arts with violence. After all, you're learning self-defense techniques. However, there's a big difference between self-defense and violence. Self-defense means you seek a peaceful way of life, only defending yourself is you absolutely have to. Violence means seeking out hostile situations. While injury is possible with any form of exercise - we're proud to say that injuries are very rare here. We go to extreme lengths to make sure you learn Krav Maga in a safe, effective way.
"Are both group and private classes available?"
Most of our members enjoy the group setting, but private sessions are available too depending on instructor availability.
"How many people are generally in a group class?”
Normally around 15-30, with more instructors added as class size grows.
"Will there be other beginners in my class?"
Yep! Our members come in all experience levels, shapes, ages & sizes. If you're a beginner, you'll fit right in.
“Is your class a ‘cardio kickboxing' class?”
No! These classes are very, very different from cardio kickboxing. It's hard to describe how much different they are, but once you come in you'll see for yourself 😉
“Will your kickboxing class help me tone up?”
Definitely. Our entire program was handcrafted to help you get lean & toned. Literally every thing you do here helps you achieve this goal.
"Does Krav Maga make kids violent?"
No way! Martial arts is about peace, harmony and diplomacy. It teaches children how to AVOID fights - not pick them.
"Do kids get injured in Krav Maga?"
Sometimes. But the truth is, injuries are very, very rare here. We have a lot of measures in place to keep your child perfectly safe. In fact, safety is our #1 concern.
“Can my child still participate in Krav Maga if he/she is not athletic?”
Yes! In fact, martial arts is kind of a beacon of light for kids who just don't fit into team sports. Kids who never could throw a ball well or run fast find that martial arts is accessible to them. It's something they excel at, and as a result, their confidence soars.
"Are Krav Maga classes fun?"
Yes! After all, these are children we're dealing with here. And kids love their fun. We do a variety of games and activities that have kids balling with laughter, and constantly smiling. We work hard here - but we play just as hard.
“Is Krav Maga a skill / talent that will give my child pride and confidence?”
Yes! A lot of kids perform their martial arts moves in talent shows and other things. Their friends are always blown away. The positive feedback children receive helps build their self-esteem and confidence. Kids feel good knowing they can do something that's "cool and special.
“What ages are the other kids in the Krav Maga class?”
We have classes for kids as young as 8, and as old as teenagers. Martial arts is the kind of thing that grows with you. So as kids get older, they learn new techniques, perfect old ones, and advance. When they're younger, it's more about fun and games, with learning thrown in too.
“Is Krav Maga for boys only? Or can girls participate as well?”
Our martial arts classes have been, and always will be, for boys AND girls! Every class has a good blend of the two as well. In fact, girls often get the hang of it sooner than boys as they're naturally more flexible.
